News IAEE Energy conference: dual plenary session on Long-term Energy Scenarios and Consumer Behaviour

01 May 2018
IAEE Energy conference

The 41st International IAEE conference on Energy business, markets and policy will be held from 10-13 June 2018 in Groningen . The theme of the conference is Transforming Energy Markets.
We invite you to attend the plenary sessions, to join the round table discussions and concurrent sessions during the IAEE Energy conference.

Tuesday afternoon, June 12, starts with a dual plenary session. Session 1 focuses on Long-term Energy Scenarios. It is no surprise that energy and climate scenarios are a topic of particularly controversial debate, both with respect to the institutional framing (who develops what kind of scenarios, in which context, etc.), and – off course – with respect to the results. The objective of the session is to contribute to the debate with a discussion of both aspects of scenario making. Ruud Egging (Norway), Christian Breyer (Finland) and Christophe Bonnery (France) will share their views on this topic.

By using insights from (social) psychology, behavioral economics provides an extensive body of evidence contradicting the notion of the homo oeconomicus. This second dual plenary session, “Understanding Individual and Collective Consumer Behaviour” discusses the behavior of energy consumers / prosumers and small firms, both at the individual (e.g. bounded rationality, mental accounting, green biases) and aggregate level (e.g. peer pressure, collective behavior). The speakers for this session are: Anna Alberini (US), Marilyn Brown (US) and Kristina Rodig (Germany).
