General information

Global Economics & Management (GEM) is a large department (more than 50 faculty members and approximately 25 doctoral students) at the cross section of international economics and international business. Members of the department share an interest in the international and comparative dimension of economic activity, both at the firm level and that of the nation state. The department brings together a group of scholars with a deep understanding of the drivers of globalization, and the consequences for firms, regions, and nations. Logically, members of GEM come from all over the world, and more than 10 different languages are spoken in the department.

Mission

The mission of the department of Global Economics and Management is:

  • to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of International Economics, Business and Management by conducting  high-quality research in order to improve understanding of the current and future needs, preferences and priorities of the modern globalizing world of Economics, Business and Management;
  • to inspire students to reach beyond their own borders by utilizing the knowledge of international academic staff who are committed to supporting and challenging students to develop and expand their academic knowledge and provide them with the opportunity to achieve to their highest potential in order to prepare the next generation for leadership in the global business environment;
  • to provide a stimulating and international environment for staff and students and to continually improve the alliance with universities, policy institutions and private sector organizations across the globe to encourage and allow staff and students to work and study abroad in order to develop an in-depth perspective and understanding of the global world of Economics, Business and Management.
