The directors of Dutch listed companies concentrate more on the long term than their American colleagues. Long-term thinking among Dutch companies listed on the stock exchange appears to have grown stronger in the last ten years. This has been revealed by research by Niels Hermes, Reggy Hooghiemstra and Kees van Veen of the Institute for Governance and Organizational Responsibility (iGOR).

They were commissioned by Eumedion to analyse the conference calls conducted by sixty Dutch listed companies with analysts and investors in the period 2002-2016. Hermes recently presented the results of the research at a Eumedion symposium. Eumedion represents institutional investors in the field of corporate governance and related sustainability performance.
