Groningen students present innovative solutions to companies on Innovation Day (Dag van de Innovatie)
Students of the Hanze University of Applies Science Groningen and the University of Groningen have looked into the innovation issues that SME companies in the north of the Netherlands are coping with. They will reveal their solutions on 29 September during the Innovation Day, organised by the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel). Then the winner of the Student Challenge will be announced as well.
Pitches
The last couple of months, students of both institutions have been working together on current innovation issues that entrepreneurs cope with. They have been intensively coached by teachers and have followed workshops ‘design thinking’ to provide companies with innovative solutions. During the Innovation Day on 29 September, they will pitch their ideas in front of a jury from 12.00-14.00 o’clock.
MKB top 100
At 18.00 o’clock the most innovative SME companies in the region will be presented. These companies will learn which places they have conquered in the 11th edition of the ‘SME Innovation Top 100’ (MKB Innovatie Top 100) – the innovation showcase of the Chamber of Commerce. The winning students of the Student Challenge will visit a highly ranked company in the SME Top 100 to be inspired.
Collaboration education and business
The Student Challenge contributes to the strengthening of the ties between higher education and the SMEs in the region. This collaboration results in a classic win-win game: students will get a better perspective on job opportunities in the north of the Netherlands, while SMEs benefit from the innovative views that the talented students of Hanze and RUG have to offer.
Entrepreneurial organisations
If businesses cope with any issues or are interested in (research) projects, they can request help at the Hanze University of Applied Science or the University of Groningen. Entrepreneurial organisation VNO-NCW MKB Noord and the Chamber of Commerce endorse this valuable collaboration between higher education and the business world and have therefore co-organised this Student Challenge.
Chamber of Commerce Innovation Day
This year too, the Chamber of Commerce organises THE innovation event for entrepreneurs in the Netherlands: Innovation Day. Whether it comes to the development of new products, smarter design of business processes or finding new markets – Innovation Day offers what you’re looking for. Be inspired, get in touch with other entrepreneurs and give yourself a boost.
Innovation Day will take place in the Adverium in Drachten.
