EQUIS accreditation puts Faculty of Economics and Business among global top 1% of business schools
The European accreditation institution EFMD has just announced that the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen deserves its prestigious EQUIS label after an extensive and rigorous quality inspection of FEB’s education, research and facilities. In 2011 FEB acquired the AACSB label, also a proof of the high quality of the Faculty. The combination of the EQUIS and AACSB accreditations is only reserved for one percent of business schools worldwide.
In a first reaction FEB dean Professor Harry Garretsen says: “We are very proud to have attained the EQUIS label. It proves that our quality and performance meet high standards. International accreditations increase the attractiveness of FEB for our stakeholders, like students, staff and potential partner universities, which AACSB has already proven. EQUIS further strengthens our position; we now rank among the world’s top 1% business schools.
EFMD - EQUIS
The EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) label is being granted by the EFMD, the European Foundation for Management Development. EFMD is, like AACSB, one of the two world’s leading accreditation organizations for business education. Important themes for EQUIS are Internationalization, Corporate Connections, and Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability.
Continuous improvement
Garretsen: “The added value for students is that employers in the private and public sector will know that the best graduates in business and economics come from the University of Groningen. And for our education and research programmes it means an incentive for continuous improvement, since only that way we can retain the label.”
