Apply as an exchange student

  • I would like to apply as an exchange student. What should I do?

    Please contact the International Office (or equivalent) at your home university. If there is an exchange agreement with our faculty, your coordinator will be able to give you the necessary information. Please find out about the application procedure on our website.

  • Do I need to pay any tuition fees?

    Exchange students participating in the ERASMUS or bilateral programme do not have to pay any tuition fees.

  • What are the deadlines for registration as an exchange student?

    The registration deadline for exchange students is 1st of June for the 1st semester and 1st of November for the 2nd semester. Please note that your coordinator at your home university should nominate you one month before this deadline.

  • Can I apply as a free mover?

    Unfortunately, we do not offer any possibilities to study at our faculty as a free mover.

  • Do you have any entry requirements for exchange students?

    Students that participate in an exchange programme need to have an educational background in economics and/or business. Students who wish to take Master courses need to send the exchange office a copy of their Bachelor degree. Also, proof of English proficiency is required with the exception of students whose mother tongue is English.     As soon as you have registered yourself online as an exchange student, the exchange office will communicate directly with you about which documents to send in.

    An acceptance letter is sent out as soon you have met the entry requirements.
  • Do you have any English language requirements for incoming exchange students?

    All applicants need to submit proof of their English proficiency (with the exception of students whose mother tongue is English). Please find more details on our website. On our website you will also find out why it is important to have good English language skills when studying at our faculty.

  • Which documents do I need to send you?

    As soon as you are registered online, you will receive information about the documents you will need to send for your student registration and, if applicable, for your visa application. Please read the information on our website on this subject: http://www.rug.nl/feb/education/exchange/admissionandapplication If the information supplied by the exchange office is still unclear, please contact them directly on exchange.in.feb rug.nl.
  • Can you please check and sign my learning agreement?

    If you need the Exchange Office to check and sign your learning agreement, please hand in your learning agreement at the Student Support Desk in the Plaza of the Duisenberg building. They will make sure your learning agreement will be signed by the Exchange Office. As soon as your Learning agreement is ready, the Exchange Office will email you to inform you about that and you can come and collect your Learning agreement again at the Student Support Desk.
  • Do you have a study guide for exchange students?

    No, but all the information can be found on our website. As soon as you registered yourself online as an exchange student, the exchange office will communicate directly with you about how to prepare your study abroad in Groningen. You will also receive a personalized newsletter before the semester starts. In case you have questions about your study abroad in Groningen, please send an e-mail to exchange.in.feb rug.nl.
