Business Challenge | Creating Value and New Economy with New Business Models
For: students IB&M, SIM, SCM and TOM + Honours students
When: block 2.1, starting 19 February
Available positions: 8 students
Application deadline: 8 February
A new Business Challenge is coming up! New Business Models, which will focus on new developments in society. In the traditional sense, local development means setting up business and trying to create conditions that will facilitate the creation of new business activities. This reminds of traditional business in which the ultimate purpose is realising profits, needed as a reward for entrepreneurship and needed as an investment tool for the continuation of a company.
However in the more modern sense , local development also includes social inititatives. The essence of this business challenge is how this new perspective can contribute to local economic and social development. Not only looking at the practical consequences for businesses, but aiming to develop a business model that can be applied outside the business world, focusing on new developments in our society.
What can you expect?
The Business Challenge consists of four workshops (19 and 26 February, 5 and 26 March, 18.00-20.00). Besides those meetings, you will work in small teams of multi-discipline students, and conduct interviews with entrepreneurs.
One of the organisations involved is GSC3 (Global Smart City & Community Coalition). Main theme: how can their strategic themes be developed in the Netherlands, working together with the major Dutch cities and the industrial players around those cities.
You will take a look at organisations and get to work with developers which will give you more insights into the international economic development sector. Working in this set up, with your team, will also develop your consulting, projectmanagement and team work skills.
