LC | Life Cycle Theory in Practice
LEARING COMMUNITY IS CANCELLED FOR SEMESTER 2. LOOK FOR NEW ENROLLEMENT IN SEMESTER 1 2018-2019.
What has gone up, will go down. And what has gone down, must go up – in order to survive.
A simple truth from the Life Cycle approach, but often neglected in economics and business administration.
This approach can be used to analyse and predict the diffusion of new products, ideas, organisations or technologies. Especially for mature organisations it is crucial to use their old life cycles in order to become successful in new ones. You can even use this approach for better organising your personal career: how to switch to another job before you get stuck in a dead-end street.
After learning the basic concepts of Life Cycle Theory, you will do a case study (alone or in pairs) to find out how the life cycle theory can be used in practice. This Learning Community is especially designed for students who would like to develop skills in the fields of creative thinking and networking, with an interest in disruptive patterns in industries and organisations.
For: BSc and MSc students from all programmes within FEB
Lecturers involved: Dhr. Hein Vrolijk
External business contacts involved: company visits
Key learning outcomes:
- Grasp the characteristics and possibilities of the Life Cycle approach
- Apply the basic concepts to different phenomena
- Apply these concepts in one or two case studies
- Creative thinking in applying basic concepts and finding interview partners
- Conducting interviews in companies finding new activities to survive
- Making an assessment of the transformation process in these companies
Schedule and Time Investment
After some introductory lessons and a visit to a company using the Life Cycle approach, coaching sessions are organised on a flexible basis. Time investment is therefore mainly dependent on your own ambitions (coaching is aimed to discover your talents and improving your professional capacities).
Day and time of introductory lessons and company visit are not yet set; they will be defined on the availability of the participants.
