The winter school will contain the following components:

  • Understanding the need for qualitative research;
  • Designing a qualitative research project;
  • Applying a range of qualitative methods;
  • Ethics and qualitative research;
  • Managing qualitative data;
  • Analyzing qualitative data;
  • Summarizing qualitative evidence;
  • Reporting to multiple stakeholders.

We advise you to arrive on 4 December 2016. The winter school programme will start on 5 December 2016 and will end on 9 December 2016.

Course Materials
We encourage the students to buy the following book:
Hutter, I., Hennink, M., & Bailey, A. (2011). Qualitative Research Methods. UK: Sage publishers.
The book has been used extensively in the qualitative research training across different countries and has been highly cited (more than 600 citations).
In addition to the book the lecturers will also hand out case studies and recommend additional literature for reading.
Educational Methods

The Winter school will involve lectures, discussions , keynote talks, panel discussion, expert interaction sessions, group activities and hands on lab sessions.
