Scholarships available

Courtesy of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, there are 5 scholarships available for highly deserving people to attend the November 2015 Winter School.


Each scholarship will cover the following items only: registration fees, travel costs from home country to Groningen (economy class by most economic/efficient routing), and hotel accommodation (with breakfast) for the duration of the winter school. Participants will be responsible for all other other meal costs and any incidental costs they may occur.
People intending to apply should NOT register through the website (which implies agreement to pay the registration fee), but instead should send an email to with the following information:

1. cover letter and/or statement/letter of motivation/expression of interest making it very clear how they meet the eligibility criteria (see below) and how they consider they will benefit by doing the course
2. short CV
3. copy of passport
Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, you must be working in the public sector and come from the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECA) or southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) regions. You also need to be connected with land acquisition activities. Please make this clear in your letter.

The deadline for receipt of applications for scholarships is Friday 11 September 2015. We will endeavour to make a rapid decision, ideally before Friday 25 September -- subject to sponsor approval.

The University of Groningen reserve the right to change the details of the scholarships, including the number offered, the package of options, and the deadlines, as they so determine in conjunction with any sponsors.  Should funding not be approved by the sponsors, we reserve the right to cancel the scholarships.
