Religion in politics: A curse or blessing?

Student symposium in cooperation with the Protestant Theological University and the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences (Evangelische Hogeschool) in Amersfoort, 14 Februari 2018

This symposium is only given in Dutch.

‘God bless America’. With these words Donald Trump concluded his victory speech as new president of the United States of America. In doing this, he is not unique. For centuries, world leaders have used God in their struggle to power. The pope even established the Knights Temple in order to free Palestine from Muslims during the time of the crusades.

During this symposium we will look at the interweaving of God, religion and politics. The student symposium will take place on Wednesday 14 February 2018 on the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences, Drentsestraat 1 in Amersfoort.

During this student symposium you can choose between different kind of workshops on ‘Religion in politics.’ The afternoon will be concluded with a College Tour in which you can ask questions to Gert-Jan Segers, parliamentary leader of the Christian Union. How do you deal with difficult issues as a Christian politician?
