Question

10 What are the rules concerning the use of third-party materials that are being published for non-Groningen groups and in an open environment

Answer

As indicated before, there is still no guidance for this, including publishing teaching materials online. At this stage the Administrative and Legal Affairs department advises lecturers to check with the department if it is a good idea to make materials available via YouTube. Important to note is the need to create materials that conform to University of Groningen house style from a marketing perspective, to make it more recognizable for our organization. Also, it is wise to ask for legal advice, as certain allowances made for using teaching materials in a closed environment no longer apply when publishing materials on the internet. Therefore, a thorough check needs to be done if certain materials can be used freely, or permission from the copyright holder has been given.
