Towards uniform and sustainable e-learning

In this project FSE wants to digitalize two main components of their education: (1) writing mathematical formulas and drawing scientific figures, and (2) working with lab journals. They want to do this by piloting two tools. With SOWISO it becomes possible to input mathematical formulas and scientific figures digitally. This makes it i.a. possible to provide students with immediate personalized feedback (formative assessment) and to produce learning analytics, such as student and class progress reports. Through integration with Nestor, SOWISO enables to take digital exams at the Aletta Jacobshal. Jupyter is a digital lab-journal tool that supports interactive data science and scientific computing with high-level programming languages, which makes it highly adaptable. By using this tool, student’s written lab-journals become obsolete, making better archiving and better feedback possible. This project is interesting because digital lab-journals and the possibility for digital input of formulas is widely useable within the University and opens up possibilities for better (formative) assessment.
