Large-Scale Active Learning and Developing UG Active Learning Templates
The aims of this project are: (1) to experiment with using active learning methods on a large scale, in modules with large groups of students and many tutorial groups, and (2) to make it easier for teachers to start using these methods and effectively redesign modules by developing an experience-driven set of UG Active Learning Templates to guide how active learning methods and tools can be used to foster active learning and thus improve the learning experience of students. These two aims are inter-connected and serve an overall goal: to make it possible on a university wide level to easily and effectively use active learning methods and tools within various different classroom settings through the use of (partly) standardized, widely useable and supported AL-Templates. This project is interesting because it can serve as a stepping stone towards providing a practical and easy way to implement active learning throughout the whole university.
In this project, ad 1) report is produced to describe the experiences of lecturers while using active learning approaches.
