|Student workload:||20 contact hours and 15 hours of self-study.|
|Audience:||Participants who need to use Dutch for their daily work and want to improve their skills. People whose mother tongue is not Dutch (NT2) and who have a CEFR level of B1 or higher in Dutch.|
Do you work in a Dutch company and want to understand your colleagues better? Do you want to bring more variation into your language use and internalize the typical style of communication in the Dutch workplace? If so, the Dutch for Professionals course can help you!
In this course, you will learn the ‘dos and don’ts’ of communicating in a Dutch work environment. Depending on your work situation and position, you will learn the right phrasing to use; because what is suitable in one company may not fit in another. This way, you will avoid unintended peculiarities and making a too formal or too informal impression.
During the ten sessions, the emphasis will lie on communication aims, tone and nuance. You will practise and improve your Dutch for various situations, such as making a request, giving positive and negative feedback, taking the floor and concluding a discussion. Attention will also be paid to vocabulary, grammar and culture. We will use examples from your own work situations, so that you can learn from each other as much as possible.
