I'm not sure I want to stay in academia. What other options does my degree give me?

Postdocs and PhD students often face questions around career development, which differ from the issues regular employees are confronted with. They have to prepare for their next career step, a step that is not necessarily taking place in the academic world. To be able to move ahead they need some guidance. They should be able to reflect on their choices, values and believes. They need to know their strong points (and weak points). They need to learn the power of networking. They need an understanding of labour market opportunities in both academia and the profit sector. They should be aware of international opportunities. This course is aimed at bringing clarity to career development for academics in their early career.

(Young) academics with temporary jobs, for instance PhD students, postdocs, researchers.

Content

Our approach focuses the attention on strengths and possibilities. Participants will be provided with a systematic process for exploring career needs, focusing on current position, desired destination and unique personal resources (subjects of interest, sills, values, style). After the three days participants will have their own action plan for career development. But more importantly, they will be able to act on that action plan and take their career towards the next level.
