How researchers can generate influence and reputation beyond academia

How can you maximise your knowledge and expertise in research outputs, innovation and impact to enhance your reputation as researcher and extend your influence at the personal and institutional level?

Nicol Keith , Professor of Molecular Oncology at the University of Glasgow and Director of Research Impact at the Institute of Cancer Sciences, will hold two events about research and societal impact – one event will be tailored to researchers in the medical sciences and one to researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Each event will consist of a lecture and a workshop.

Who should attend?

This event is suitable for, all grades of academic staff (from early career investigators to senior academics), postgraduate students and non-academic research professionals such as research managers.

Lecture: "Open research, co-creation and impact. How researchers can generate influence and reputation beyond academia"

The lecture will focus on:

  • benchmarking research activities to understand what researchers have and what they need
  • understanding co-creation, open science and impact activities and
  • extending your influence and reputation beyond academia

Following the lecture, Nicol will also hold a workshop.

Workshop “ Understanding the knowledge exchange and research impact landscape and advancing your career”

The workshop will cover:

  • Why do universities care so much about knowledge exchange, co-creation and research impact beyond academia?
  • What’s in it for you?
  • Working with others outside academia.

The lectures and workshops are open to everyone, however registration is needed for the workshops. The workshops will be tailored to the needs of the participants, therefore you will be asked to answer a few questions prior to the workshop.
