Locations of the Central Medical Library
How to get to the UMCG?

By car

From the ring motorway around the city of Groningen, follow the signs “UMCG Noord”. This will take you to the UMCG car park.

With public transport

The UMCG is easy to reach by public transport. There are both local and regional buses from the central NS train station to the UMCG. These buses stop at the bus stop near the main entrance and/or the side entrance on Oostersingel and/or the north entrance on Antonius Deusinglaan. Up-to-date public transport information can be found on the Qbuzz and 9292OV websites.

The Central Medical Library (CMB) has 3 locations:

  1. CMB Library (building 3211-S29)
    Service desk, printed collection, course room, study places for students, group rooms, RUG computers.
  2. CMB Silent Study Areas  (building 3215)
    Study places for students, reservation required.
  3. CMB Zorg  (building Y4.202)
    UMCG computers and study places, is only accessible to PhDs, postdocs and physicians who received permission for access from their manager.

How to get to the CMB Library?

Visiting address CMB Library:

Antonius Deusinglaan 1 (Faculty Building), basement, building 3211-S29.

Route from the Antonius Deusinglaan 1

  • Enter through the entrance under the gold-colored building  (Antonius Deusinglaan 1)
  • After a few meters turn left. Follow the signs 'Reception desk'.
  • Turn left again
  • Take the stairs or elevator to the basement
  • Walk straight to the entrance of the CMB Library


Route from the Central Medical Complex (CMC)

  • Go to the Bridge. This is possible from all floors, but please note: there is only one connection to the faculty buildings and that is on the 2nd floor
  • To get to building 3211, walk 'straight ahead', there are signs indicating which building 3211 is.
  • Keep walking in the same direction until you reach the hall on the 2nd floor of building 3211.

  • Then you take the stairs or the elevator to the basement.
    From the stairwell, the entrance to the CMB Library in the basement is clearly visible. From the elevator, turn left. The entrance to the CMB Library is on the left.

How to get to the CMB Silent Study Areas?

Visiting address CMB Silent Study Areas:

Antonius Deusinglaan 1, ground floor, building 3215.

Route from the Antonius Deusinglaan 1

  • Enter through the entrance under the gold-colored building (Antonius Deusinglaan 1)
  • Walk through the restaurant and then turn right into the long corridor
  • You will find the CMB Study Areas at the end of the corridor

How to get to CMB Zorg?

Visiting address CMB Zorg:

Hanzeplein 1 (Central Medical Complex), 4th floor (Y4) Poortweg 12 or Winkelstraat 1.

Note: This CMB location is only accessible to PhDs, postdocs and physicians who received permission for access from their manager.

CMB Zorg is open 24/7.

Route from the main entrance UMCG (Hanzeplein 1)

  • From the main hall walk to the right, past the flowerstall and supermarket; this is the Poortweg
  • Follow the Poortweg for about 150 metres
  • At Poortweg 12 take the stairs/elevator to the 4th floor
  • Follow signs ‘Centr. Med. Bibliotheek’

Route from from the entrance Antonius Deusinglaan 1

  • From the entrance (Antonius Deusinglaan 1): take the stairs to the 2nd floor
  • Turn right into the hallway, walk through the gray swing door (a few meters left, and then right) into the corridor, keep walking in the same direction towards the Bridge (de Brug)
  • Walk along the Bridge until you reach the UMCG part (carpet)
  • Take the stairs to the 4th floor
  • After the bridge , take the first left
  • Then the first right (before the lifts)
  • Continue walking until you reach the entrance of CMB Zorg to your left (Y4)
