The Energy Landscape in Groningen
The Energy Landscape in Groningen consists of several layers:
Faculties of the RUG and their centres for energy research and education, such as CEER, which is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen. CEER is the binding element within the faculty and both initiates and coordinates energy matters that are relevant for research and education.
Groningen Energy and Sustainability Platform (GESP) is a platform for discussion about energy research and education within the RUG. GESP offers room for dialogue between the different faculties. GESP has close ties to the Energy Academy Europe. Our director Machiel Mulder is a member of the GESP core team.
Energy Academy Europe (EAE) is a public-private organisation with several stakeholders, among which: University of Groningen, Hanze, Gasterra and NAM. CEER is closely connected to EAE activities through the GESP and other joint ventures. For example, our director Machiel Mulder is part of the EAE Steering Group Energy Education as representative of the University of Groningen. Machiel Mulder is also part of the EnergySense scienitific committee – this is a big project by the EAE which monitors the energy use and behaviour of households in the Netherlands.
