As a student in the University of Groningen, I’ve broadened my horizons in many ways. I learned quite a lot, not only about my field of study, but about general aspects of life. At the end of my bachelor, however, I realized I wasn`t yet where I wanted to be with regards to the labour market. I still had much to understand, especially considering how different things can be when one lives in a foreign country. Therefore, I started researching about it, in order to better understand it. And although there is much more I comprehend now, I understand this is a work in progress – one cannot know everything about it, especially as changes to the labour market come faster and faster.
It is not getting any easier to find a job, with the conditions, environments and terms of work transforming so quickly. It all requires us to adapt. What I want to do, therefore, is help students transition from the student life to beyond and in the best way possible. For that, I hope to be very present to help in any way that I can – be it by talking to students, checking their cover letters and CVs, or by helping develop projects that will enhance the experience of students at the University of Groningen.Working with the Career Services, we hope to help students make the best of their stay in the university, as well as prepare them for what lies ahead. I’ve come far as a person in this university, and it is only fair that I should work hard to help other students, since they are a big part of what makes the experience here so fulfilling and rewarding.
