The month December was dedicated to the Eric Bleumink Fund (EBF) of the Ubbo Emmius Fund. In the December issue of the alumni magazine Broerstraat 5 a payment slip was enclosed through which the EBF could be supported. This action resulted in a total of € 27,000 in donations. Through crowdfunding and the telephone fundraising campaign more than € 22,000 was raised. Moreover, the staff of the University and the UMCG can support the EBF by donating their Christmas gift. It is not known yet how much has been donated. Finally, there are 578 regular donors for the EBF.
EBF is the oldest Fund of the Ubbo Emmius Fund. For seventeen years, funds are being raised for scholarships of the EBF. With success: since its launch in 2000, sixty five young, ambitious and highly talented students from developing countries receive the EBF Talent Grant. Each year an average of four students can follow a master's program at the University of Groningen.

The annual campaign starts on Monday the 27th of November with a telephone fundraising campaign to the alumni of the University. This will run until the 15th of December. On December 22nd the alumni magazine Broerstraat 5 will fall on your doorstep again with an enclosed payment slip with which you can support our Fund. The staff of the University of Groningen and the UMCG can also contribute by donating their Christmas gift to the EBF. Finally, it is possible to support talented students from developing countries via the crowdfunding website, www.rugsteunt.nl. The total result for the EBF was € 117.094,56 in the year 2016.
