About usWho are we?Green Office GroningenOrganisation

What have we achieved?

In the past years we have organised many projects and events (to raise awareness, to inform and to enlarge our network). Below you can read about the developments of the last years. Perhaps it inspires you for a new project? Don't hesitate to get in touch!

2015 - 2016

10 October 2016 is the ‘Dag van de Duurzaamheid’, and also the Green Office's second birthday. This platform for sustainability at the University of Groningen has quickly expanded since the start. Many projects have been realised, we’ve had changes in employees and our network has expanded.

Naturally we have many dreams left for the future but below here is an overview of our activities of the last year:
- O-swap (secondhand clothes swap)
- Lectures Excursions (bio-dynamic farm and a tour given by an urban ecologist)
- Film nights (Bottled Life, Urban Tides, Tomorrow and Cowspiracy)
- Course about sustainability (Sustainability Myth Busters Course)
- Faculty Challenge
- Health Week

Read about all our activities in our annual report 2015-2016.

2014 - 2015

10-10-2014 was the ‘Dag van de Duurzaamheid’, and this was also the official start of Green Office Groningen. Since the summer of 2014 a team of students and staff members have worked hard to set up the Green Office in Groningen. After Maastricht, Utrecht and Wageningen, the University of Groningen was the fourth institution for higher education where a Green Office has opened. In addition, in 2015 the UG was the most sustainable Dutch university according to the Green Metrics ranking.

Some of the activities/developments this year:
- O-swap (secondhand clothes swap) Lectures (climate protocols, food policy, KLM etc)
- Excursions (to Attero, The Edge, Waddenmax and a tour by an urban ecologist)
- Course about sustainability (Sustainability Myth Busters Course)
- Greenest Research Awards
- Procurements: printing facilities, supplies University shop, canteens
- Strategic meeting sustainability
- Sustainability in Education Symposium, together with Honours College
