Student team builds solar car

‘Solar Racing Groningen (SRG)’ is a student team that is going to participate in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in October 2019. The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is a solar car race which covers over 3000 km through the Australian outback. SRG is going to build the sustainable solar car in corporation with students, the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, the University of Groningen and various businesses.

The student team wants to contribute to the sustainability and innovation process in the (North of the) Netherlands. The development of an innovative and sustainable solar car takes a lot of time. Therefore, the team is working very hard on different projects to accomplish the development and construction of the solar car. At the moment, the team is developing a test car to try out some technologies. The construction of the solar car that is participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge starts in October 2018. Additionally, SRG is engaged in education. By giving presentations at schools, the team hopes to make students enthusiastic about sustainable technology.
