Green Growth lecture 6
|When:||Mo 20-11-2017 09:30 - 11:30|
A. de Hoop, Mayor Ameland
Ten years ago Ameland started the Sustainable Ameland project, together with some leading companies in the energy field. Since then the project produced several successes in the field of energy transition. In the opinion of Albert de Hoop, mayor of Ameland and initiator of the Sustainable Ameland project, the success of the project can be attributed to the fact that from the start the aim was high. For him it was essential that his plan was supported actively by decision makers of the convenant parties. Now that the project is accelerating and scaling up, the bottom-up involvement of inhabitants becomes just as important. On Ameland discussions with the lokal public are being organised as we speak. It is the conviction of the mayor that energy transition needs both top-down and bottom-up processes. His statement is that it is better to have your presumed enemies involved in your sustainable ambition than to have them repent fort heir sins.
During this lecture the mayor will tell the participants more about the project and discuss it with them.
