The University of Groningen (UG) will be part of the worldwide movement Earth Hour on the 25th of March at the iniative of the Green Office. The lights of the Academy Building will be switched off at 20.30 for one hour. By doing this we want to draw attention to the future of our planet, and the threat of climate change.
The UG hopes to set an inspiring example, promoting sustainability and actively involving and facilitating students in sustainable activities.The UG has developed a Roadmap 2015-2020 where different goals are set to make the university more sustainable. The ambition of the UG is to be CO2-neutral in 2020, have sustainability be an integrated part of education and research and have at least 25% of energy produced by renewable sources by 2020.
