Viewpoints

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the University of Groningen (IACUC-RUG) has elaborated viewpoints regarding a number of aspects of animal experiments and the evaluation of applications. These viewpoints relate to the following subject:

• Information about codes of discomfort
• Choice of animal species

In addition, the IACUC-RUG abides by the generally applicable viewpoints descibed in the Codes of Practice pertaining to several subjects. The Codes of Practice have been drafted by experts and published under the authority of the animal experiments inspection. Three Codes of Practice have been published on:

• Cancer research (1999)
• Immunisation (2000)
• Welfare monitoring (2001)
