Buying for charity

02 October 2013

The economic crisis has encouraged many charities to form alliances with businesses. Buy a certain product and the manufacturer will donate to a charity on your behalf. This could be money, but it could also be a material donation, such as a tetanus vaccination for UNICEF for every pack of nappies you buy. But does it work? And could there be a negative effect? Dr Marijke Leliveld has received a Veni grant to study this.

The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
