The predecessor of the electric car
In the nineteenth century, Professor Sibrandus Stratingh was greatly interested in electromagnetism. Together with his instrument maker Christopher Becker, he constructed an electromagnetic vehicle which can be considered the predecessor of the electric car. Stratingh’s car is on display at the University Museum.
