2019: The Ideal Research Support office

From 13 to 17 May 2019, the University of Groningen organized its 5th Erasmus+ Staff week. The theme of this event was ‘The ideal research support office’.

We will highlight different aspects of how we are supporting research at the University. The main topics will be:

  • Graduate Schools

How are the Graduate schools organised and how do they operate? How does the university support PhD students and give them a platform to develop themselves as researchers and prepare them for their future career?

  • Research Impact & Open Science

How can we enhance and measure the academic and societal impact of research? Open access becomes a more and more familiar concept, but how do you realize openness in research?

  • Funding Strategies and Talent Development

Given that acquiring external research funding has become such a vital part of a researcher’s career, how can research support offices optimally support researchers? What does an ideal support structure look like, both in terms of long-term strategy and practical, hands-on support?

Our experts in these topics will share UG practices, but we would also like the participants to share good practices and discuss what they think an ideal research support office should look like.

This staff week is aimed at research support office employees, research policy advisors, HR support staff, funding advisors, research developers and research grant advisors from our Erasmus and ICM partneruniversities.
