Why cast your vote?
Consultative participation bodies are extremely important to our University. By voting, you can have a say on a wide variety of topics that affect the UG community. The University Council discusses matters ranging from budgets, teaching and research to student facilities and the University’s Strategic Plan.
The faculty councils discuss topics such as faculty budgets, faculty regulations, Teaching and Examination Regulations and matters related to teaching. The employee councils have a say in matters concerning the various service units at the University, including the Office of the University, CIT and the University Library.
Students and staff
The staff to student ratio on the University Council and the faculty councils is 50:50. Members of the University Council and the faculty councils are elected by and from within their respective factions: staff or students of the University of Groningen. The employee councils consist solely of staff members. Consultative participation ensures that better decisions can be made, with greater support. In a nutshell, voting is participation and participation is voting!
