Why vote?

The importance of the consultative participation bodies is great. By voting, you exercise influence in many areas within the University of Groningen. At the level of the staff council, matters concerning the university service as a work organization are discussed. Topics discussed during meetings include labor and personnel matters, technical and economic services.

Take a look at the webpage of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Arts here.

Staff participation

Half of the University Council and the faculty councils consist of staff members, and the other half of students. The members of the University Council and the faculty councils are elected by and from the ranks to which they belong: staff or students of the University of Groningen. The employee councils consist only of staff members. Staff participation ensures that better decisions are reached, which have broader support. In short: voting is participating, and participating is voting! More information about staff participation can be found here.
