Oldehinkel, Prof. Tineke

Tineke Oldehinkel is Professor of Lifecourse Epidemiology of Common Mental Disorders at the University Medical Center Groningen.
Oldehinkel studied psychology at the University of Groningen. In 1997, she gained her PhD here in Medical Sciences with her thesis entitled “Trends and transitions in fifteen years of psychiatric care utilization: A case register study”. She has been connected to the UMCG psychiatry department as a researcher since 1990.
At the University Centre for Psychiatry (UCP), Oldehinkel works in the area of psychiatric epidemiology, most notably the causes and consequences of common disorders, from a lifelong perspective. She is the head researcher of the long-term youth study TRAILS. Her research focuses on the lifelong interaction between biological, psychological and social processes regarding the formation and course of common psychological problems, especially affective disorders. Furthermore, she is also the programme head of the Interdisciplinary Center for Psychopathology and Emotion Regulation (together with Prof. P. de Jonge).
