Roggenkamp, Prof. Martha

Martha Roggenkamp is professor of Energy Law (the first one in The Netherlands) and director of the Groningen Centre of Energy Law at the Faculty of Law. She is an expert in the field of Dutch, European and international energy law.
Roggenkamp studied Scandinavian languages and literature and Dutch law at the University of Groningen. From 1986 until 2004, she worked as a researcher at the – now defunct – International Energy Law Institute of Leiden University. She is also an Of Counsel (advisor) for Brinkhof Advocaten in Amsterdam. She has been involved in projects on various topics, including independent network management and regulation of offshore wind energy, and provided advice on the regulation of carbon capture & storage.
She is chair of the Dutch energy law association NeVER, board member of the Groningen Energy and Sustainability Programme and member of the editorial board of the Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Energierecht [Netherlands Journal for Energy Law].
Within the Groningen Centre of Energy Law, Roggenkamp recently designed a number of new teaching programmes, including the North Sea Energy Law Programme in cooperation with the universities of Aberdeen, Oslo and Copenhagen (an Executive Master’s programme funded by the EU Lifelong Learning programme), the postdoctoral modular programme ‘Energierecht op Locatie’ [Energy Law on Location] and, since 1 September 2011, the new ‘Energy and Climate Law’ specialization within the EU Law LLM programme.
