Professor M.P.A. de Baar
Mirjam de Baar is Professor (endowed chair: Zwinglibond) of the History and Principles of Unitarianism and Lecturer in History of Christianity (Reformation and Early Modern History) and Gender studies. She is actively participating in all faculty programmes and has a role in interdisciplinary modules like Witchcraft and Sorcery, Life, Suffering and Death, and Creation in Metaphors. As Vice dean with the portfolio Education, and as Education Director she is responsible for all Degree Programmes and Quality Assurance of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies.
"Ms. De Baar organizes her courses very well and the courses have a clear structure, that she explains at the beginning of each series of courses. When she supervises assignments or essays she provides excellent feed back without any hurry. Her focus is on interaction with students. Ms. De Baar asks questions that stimulate students to really and deeply think the content of the courses through. There is always a check to see if students have really understood what they need to understand. ‘We think she is a very approachable teacher who - no matter how busy she is before, during and after courses - is always available for students and who is interested in their intellectual and personal developments. Ms. De Baar is literally and figuratively very visible in the Faculty, for example during the Introduction Period, and as a Students' Mentor. This shows she is very interested in the wellbeing of first year students. Very often she attends debating nights and the faculty barbecue party that generally closes the study year." (from the students' nomination).
