Dr V. Angelini
Viola Angelini (Venice, 1979) studied economics and statistics at the University of Padua in Italy. She was awarded a PhD summa cum laude by the universities of York and Padua for her thesis entitled Using the life-cycle framework to analyse housing, habits and bequest. She is a NETSPAR fellow (Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement) and has been working at the University of Groningen since 2010.
Angelini teaches the course units Empirical Methods of Economics, Research Methods in Finance, Microeconomics of Household Behaviour and Public Economics and Social Policy. She is also thesis supervisor for several Master’s students. In the past two years she has been highly rated in the categories best lecturer and best course unit at the Faculty. The course units she teaches are not the easiest ones, which only increases students’ appreciation of how she manages to explain the material and impart the knowledge. She also provides excellent feedback. A few quotes from her students: ‘The personal discussion of the assignments was really very useful. Your willingness to explain things and the time you took to do so were also a great help.’ ‘Basic econometric methods are taught very well. The detailed feedback is very useful.’ ‘The lectures are highly informative. I learned a lot. You’re a really enthusiastic lecturer!’
