Deadlines for grant applicationsThe following list gives the deadlines for submission of proposals to various funding agencies. Only those subsidies most relevant for the Zernike Institute have been included. Note 1: The Zernike Office appreciates being informed of any grant application you submit. As their help is needed for drafting the financial documents, contact them at least four weeks prior to the deadline. Note 2: The University's administration imposes additional deadlines, earlier than the ones given below, to allow them to prepare financial statements etc. Funding for research projectsNWO/CW Echo: (Closed 28 September 2011; new date not yet known).. Max. 260k€ NWO/CW TOP: (Closed 28 September 2011; new date not yet known). For researchers with an excellent track record. Max. 780k€ NWO/CW ECHO-STIP: (Closed 28 September 2011; new date not yet known). For new professors with an excellent project proposal fitting the Sectorplan. Total budget 4M€/year. FOM Projectruimte: 26 October 2011. Max. 400k€ (Instructions in Dutch only.) New tenured and tenure-track staff benefit from preferential treatment. The budget has been expanded for topics fitting the Sectorplan. (65% of FOM's research budget is allocated through Research Programmes, each with their own discretionary budget.) STW Open Technologieprogramma: permanently open. Max. 1.5M€ (Instructions in Dutch only.)
European Union Framework Programme 7 The Call for Proposals 2011 has been published. It includes: Thema 4, activity 4.1 Nanosciences and nanotechnologies Thema 4, activity 4.2 Materials Please see the Call for Proposals for the specific topics to which the call is restricted, and the various instruments (=funding modalities) available. Funding for individualsNWO Rubicon: 1 December 2011. Two year stay abroad or in The Netherlands, for applicants less than 1 year after their PhD. NWO Veni: 5 January 2012. Duration three years. Max. 250k€. For applicants less than 3 years after their PhD. NWO Vidi: 2 October 2012. Duration five years. Max. 800k€. For applicants less than 8 years after their PhD, including professors. NWO Vici: 29 March 2012 (pre-application), 28 August 2012 (full proposal). Duration five years. Max. 1.5M€. For applicants less than 15 years after their PhD. ERC Ideas Starting Independent Researcher Grant: 12 October 2011 (for Physical sciences and engineering), 9 November 2011 (for Life sciences). Max. 1.5M€ (exceptionally 2M€) over a five-year period. Applicants between 2 and 10 year after PhD. ERC Ideas Advanced Investigator Grant: (Closed 9 February 2011 (for Physical sciences and engineering), 10 March 2011 (for Life sciences); ; new date not yet known). Max. 2.5M€ (exceptionally 3.5M€) over a five-year period. Applicants have more than 10 years of research experience. Marie Curie Fellowships: See the Cordis website for the currently open possibilities under this programme. Funding for infrastructureNWO/CW Middelgroot: (Closed 31 August 2011; ; new date not yet known). Subsidy 110 - 1500 k€; applicant provides >25%. NWO Groot: 1 November 2011. Subsidy > 1500 k€. Contribution by applicant decided on a case-by-case basis. NWO BAZIS: (Closed September 2011.) "Workhorse equipment". No matching required. Subsidy 100 - 1.000 k€. Total budget 3M€/year.
