Scholarships


When you go abroad

you can get information from

- through a faculty exchange agreement to:

  • countries within the EU: Erasmus/LLLP (Life Long Learning project)
    (only for
    students from one of these countries*)

  • countries outside the EU: Marco Polo Fund
  • to Japan: Groningen Graduate School of Science

* students originating from countries outside the EU are allowed to go to a European country,
using a Marco Polo scholarship.

Good to know

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences maintains the following additional directions when you apply for a sholarship of the Marco Polo Fund:

  1. you have to apply at the exchange coordinator no later than eight weeks before leave;
  2. you will receive 75% of the scholarship after receipt of a copy of the ticket for the outward journey; the remaining 25% will be paid after receipt of the report, the report form, a transcript of records or assessment letter and a copy of the ticket for the return journey;
  3. when receiving money from other funds and/or institutions the faculty maintains the additional rule:
  • up to € 1000,- the entire Marco Polo scholarship will be granted;
  • between € 1000,- and € 3000,- a maximum of € 100,- a month will be granted;
  • above € 3000,- the application for a Marco Polo scholarship will be rejected.
