In memoriam Floris Takens

On Sunday 20 June 2010 at 11:05am Professor emeritus Floris Takens passed away. Professor Takens was member of our institute from 1971 to 1999. He held several administrative positions. After his retirement he continued to be an active researcher which included also the supervision of PhD students. He was an exceptionally strong researcher with a worldwide reputation. We are grateful for the inspiration he has given us both through his research and as a person. The spirit and influence of his work will last for a long time. The painting on the right is by Jacqueline Kasemier (Usquert, 2005).
