Page content: The Science Shop for Biology is part of the Biology Department. Science shops have been founded in the seventies and eighties in all Dutch universities. They were meant as a tool for democratizing the access to academic research, enabling civil groups or organizations to obtain information by research serving their, generally emancipatory aims. By mediation of the science shops students can conduct research into the problems of the questioner as a part of their training. Civil groups or organizations in need of biological expertise can apply to the Science Shop for advice and information. Students can conduct research into these matters as a part of their training. If research other than student's projects is required, we help to get it realized. Explorative inquiry into new social problems involving contributions from the biological sciences is also part of the activities of the Science Shop. As the research result might be of interest to other groups than the questioner, we publish them in the form of reports or booklets, available at our address.
