Exchange students in the International Bachelor


Foreign exchange students can be enrolled in one of three blocks of year 1 or one of the 4 block of year 2 of the International Bachelor in Medicine, profile Global Health. One block is 12 weeks and 15 EC. During their stay they will be registred as a student of the University of Groningen (RUG). There will be a maximum of 5 students per block. There will be no minimum.

In year 2 of the IBMG enchange students can be enrolled in one of the following blocks:

For both years applys that it  is possible to be enrolled in more than one block. However it is not possible to attend block 2.2 or 2.4 separately. Block 2.2 can only be followed in combination with block 2.1, and  the same applys to block 2.4 which can only be followed in combination with 2.3.

The blocks 2.1 and 2.3 can be followed separately.

From September 2012 it will also be possible to enroll in blocks 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 of year 3 of the International Bachelor. More information will follow on this site.

For whom:  

Students enrolled in a university programme in Medicine at a partner university of the UMCG, or the University of Groningen. Freemovers can apply but exchange students have precedence. The costs for study books will also be for your own account.

Costs and Fees:

For students coming from a partner university, described as above, there will be no tuition fee. Costs for travel, living and accommodation are for your own account.

Entrance Enquiries:  

  • Secondary education with Biology
  • Candidates whose native language is not English must provide adequate evidence of proficiency in English. We accept the following tests/ documents:
    1. computer TOEFL: score of at least 237, all sections sufficient (so at least 21 on each section), and a TWE of at least  4.5; or,

    2. paper TOEFL:score of at least 580, all sections sufficient (so at least 55 on each section), and a TWE of at least 4.5; or,

    3. internet TOEFL: score of at least 92, all sections sufficient (so at least 21 on each section); or,

    4. IELTS Academic (British Council’s English Language Test), original only: score of at least 6.5, all sections sufficient (so at least 6.0 on each section); or,

    5. CPE, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English; or,

    6. CAE, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English.

Only those whose native language is English are exempted from evidence of proficiency in English.
