No food waste for Kromkommer

15 April 2016

'According to research, 30 to 50 % of all the food in the world is wasted. That's quite unbelievable!'

Facts about food waste:

  • Worldwide we waste 1.3 billion ton of food: that's one third of the entire food production
  • At the same time 1 billion people worldwide are in need of food. Ant the world population continues to grow from 7 to over 9 billion people by 2075.
  • The food that is wasted in the USA alone is enough to feed all the hungry people in the world... Ofcourse this is still in theory, but still..

Kromkommer is an organization who couldn't let that pass unnoticed. When Jente & Lisanne (owners of Kromkommer) looked into the food waste issue and saw those astonishing facts they got inspired and started to try and change the food system!

Kromkommer was founded with the mission to save all the fruits and veggies that otherwise would have been wasted because of their looks or overproduction.

Kromkommer is visiting University College Groningen on the Offer Holder Day May 3rd. During their guest lecture they will tell about the social enterprise and how important a sustainable food chain is.
