Knowledge dissemination - a key priority in the Target project
The activities within the Target project are a unique combination of cutting-edge research and technological development in the areas of information science, large-scale computer system technologies and IT business innovation. The sharing of the diverse and often complementary expertise of Target’s academic and business partners creates a collective body of knowledge used to expand the capabilities of intelligent information systems – a vital “organ” in the complex system of modern life and a key element for its future progress and sustainability. The ideas, products and applications resulting from the R&D conducted within Target aim at pushing further the IT frontiers while, at the same time, employing IT technologies in the process of assisting scientific progress and improving quality of life. An important aspect in Target’s strategy of achieving these aspirations include knowledge dissemination from the Target knowledge center to other spheres of science, education, research, business and society. The strong collaboration between Target’s Communications Office, the PR departments of our commercial partners and the individual Education and Public Outreach programs of the academic partners strives to:
- Disseminate Target project results to interested third parties
- Stimulate cross-pollination between the Target project and other relevant R&D projects
- Inspire interest for ICT research and technological development in students from secondary education, higher vocational education and higher education
- Attract and recruit young talented bright minds in Target R&D activities
- Improve the knowledge and educate the general public about the technological possibilities offered by ICT technologies and the importance of continued research in that area
