Teacher Training: From Theory to Practice in L2 teaching

In conjunction with the Applied Linguistics department at the Faculty of Arts, the Language Centre has developed a course entitled ‘From Theory to Practice in L2 Teaching’.
The course is aimed at people who would like to become corporate or higher education language trainers or who would like to further develop their skills. It will combine theoretical knowledge with the day-to-day practice of teaching, which differs greatly from regular teaching.

The main themes are:

- the teacher and the student

- the skills

- the means

- course, lesson and class

- testing and evaluation.

In addition to the 5 contact hours a week, participants will also be given several assignments. Language Centre teachers are required to pay just the registration fee. The course is free for MA students enrolled in the MA Applied Linguistics. The course is also intended for language trainers from outside the University of Groningen. Any outside participants will have additional costs.
The course will be taught in English and take place in the evenings. Time investment: about 75 hours (27 contact hours and 48 hours of independent study).

MA students enrolled in the Applied Linguistics Programme should register by e-mail with Marjolein Verspoor, everyone else should register at the Language Centre office.
