Registration in a group course

We advise you to register at least a week before the course starts. That is the point when we decide whether a course has enough people registered to be able to proceed. However, please remember that popular courses may be fully booked more than a week before the starting date so earlier registration is to be recommended.

Online registration
It is now possible to register online for many of our courses. Please see: online registration .

Registration at the secretariat

You can register by calling in at the secretariat and pay via our payment terminal (PIN only) or in cash. Unfortunately we can't accept bills bigger dan €100,-. Making reservations is not possible, so you will have to pay the course fee first to make sure that you are registered. You can enrol if your language proficiency matches the level of the course in question and if you are at least 18 years old.

Payment by a faculty or department of the University of Groningen
If payment is made by a faculty or department of the University of Groningen, you can hand in the registration form accompanied by a fully completed internal order form.

Payment by an external employer
If your employer pays for your course, please hand in the registration form together with a ‘betalingsgarantieformulier’ (payment guarantee form). The secretariat will then send an invoice to the company with a EUR 20 administration fee.

Remote registration
The secretariat can send you an invoice up to one month before the start of the course. This service is liable to a € 20 administration fee. We will reserve a place for you for 10 days after the date of the invoice. If the Language Centre does not receive your payment within these 10 days, your reservation will be cancelled.
You can also pay by VISA or Mastercard at a € 20 administration fee and a transaction fee of 3.5% of the total amount of the course and administration fees.

Student card
Students must show their student card when they register.

Advice card (only for the Dutch courses)
When registering for a course in Dutch you must show the advice card that you received during the office hour or at the end of the previous course that you followed at the Language Centre. No advice card is necessary for registration for the regular level 1 course in Dutch.

Insufficient participants
Courses will be cancelled if there are not enough participants. You will be informed of this no later than five days before the start of the course. It is a good idea not to buy your books before this moment.

Transfer to a different group
If during the first lessons it turns out that you are in the wrong group for your level, the teacher will discuss the possibilities of transferring to a different group. Please feel free to contact the teacher if you have doubts about how your level compares to your group. However, transferring is not always possible.

Cancellation procedure
1. If you cancel up to two weeks before the start of the course your course fee will be reimbursed, less a € 20 administration fee.

2. If you cancel in the period from two weeks before the course starts and the first teaching day, 40% of the course fee will be reimbursed.

3. No course fee will be reimbursed if you cancel on or after the first teaching day.

Please hand in the copy of the registration form when you cancel a course. No reimbursement will be granted without this form. You can only cancel courses on working days between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
