How can firms and organizations use planning and the control of operations to meet customer needs during the entire life cycle of products and services? How can technological innovations contribute to gaining competitive advantage? How can resources be used efficiently? This is the domain of technology and operations management.

General information

In this Master’s degree programme you will focus on planning and controlling operations during the entire life cycle of products and services, and on introducing and designing technological innovations for organizations. Core aspects include operations management concepts, facility design and planning, behavioural operations management, business process modelling and asset management. Graduates of this Master’s programme are able to define, diagnose and analyse operations management problems in technology-intensive industries and develop and evaluate solution approaches and technological innovations. Graduates are able to develop new planning and control concepts to improve processes and can assess product and process innovations in terms of their possible impact on the sociotechnical system of a business. As a graduate you will be able to address the need for continuous performance improvement and the quest for efficient resource use.

Career prospects

Graduates usually end up in technical-organizational positions. These include product manager, operations manager, innovation consultant, project manager for innovations in products and production, marketing staff for technological products or product development manager. These positions are found in the chemical industry, the metalworking and steel industry, engineering, the food processing industry, banking, insurance and small and medium-sized businesses.

  • English test: TOEFL (580/237/92); IELTS (6.5); Cambridge Proficiency (A/B/C) or Cambridge Advanced
  • GMAT (≥600 automatically accepted; <500 denied)
