Financial matters

Taking a degree costs money, and student life does too! You will first be faced with tuition fees and the costs for textbooks, readers, etc. On top of these are your living costs, including rent, insurance, food and drink, clothes, going out, sports, culture, etc. These costs naturally vary per person. Make sure that you are properly insured, not only health insurance but also for third-party liability (WA) and fire and house contents insurance.

Information

You can find more information about financial matters via the tips and links in the right-hand column. If you need more advice, please make an appointment with a student counsellor of the Student Service Centre via the University Student Desk.

Student finance to be pared down

The Cabinet has plans that include no basic grant in the Master's phase and to limit the number of years students qualify for a student travel pass. Depending on when exactly the bill is submitted, the measures may already apply in academic year 2012-2013, even to current students.  Information about the plans and the consequences will be announced on the website , via the DUO app and on Twitter .

You can use the DUO calculator to check the consequences of the long-term student regulation and other government plans for your student finance. The results of the DUO calculator are estimates because some figures, such as the standard amounts for tuition fees and student grants for post-2013, are not yet known.
