What happened to the General Studies Modules?
The academic year 2009-2010 was the last year possibillity to follow General Studies Modules. As of 2010-2011 they are replaced with the Major-Minor system. I'm a 'HBO'-student or a student from a professional University ('hogeschool'). Can I follow a Minor at the RUG? No, HBO-students can not follow a Minor at the RUG. I'm a student from a different research university in The Netherlands. Can I follow a Minor at the RUG? Yes, that's certainly possible. Please contact Central Student Administration for more information, tel. 050 363 8004. Do I have to ask permission from my study department before I can follow a Minor? If your faculty fully participates in the Major-Minor system (see also Minor Programmes) then you don't have to ask permission to follow a University Minor. This is your own choice. I started with a University Minor, but I made the wrong choice. Can I switch to another Minor after 1 September? If you made a wrong choice for a University Minor and you discover this within three weeks after the start of the Minor, then it is still possible to start with another Minor in the same semester. In this case, please contact the central Minor coordinator. When this date has passed and you find out that you made the wrong choice, then you'll have to wait until the next academic year.
