Research interests

My research is about leadership in teams. I am particularly interested in how team members engage in leadership and how they share leadership. Does shared leadership solely add to team effectiveness, or can it also threaten effective team functioning? And is any type of leadership behavior that can be successfully used by formal leaders, also effective when used by team members?

 

Further I am interested in the individual processes in teams that share leadership. Is it pleasant, for example, to be lead by colleagues who operate within the same hierarchical layer as oneself? When is leadership by peers accepted and when not? And do individual team members differ in the extent to which they are lead by peers? How does that affect their functioning? Finally, I am working on a literature review on shared leadership that provides insights into the current state of the literature and includes directions for future research.
