dr. N.D. Sander
Assistant Professor of Population Geography
Nikola Sander is assistant professor of population geography at the Department of Demography, University of Groningen. Her research focuses on internal and international migration, urbanisation, population projections and data visualisation. Prior to joining the University of Groningen in March 2016, Nikola was a research scholar at the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She received her doctorate in geography from the University of Queensland in Australia in 2010. Her research has been published in international journals, including Science, and has been written about in New Scientist, Scientific American, The Atlantic, Slate, Telegraph and FAZ. Nikola has also been active in creating data visualisations for use by educators, policy makers and the general public.
