---------------
Prior to my appointment as Assistant Professor of Journalism Studies and Media in August 2008, I lived in the cold confines of central Canada. My MA and PhD, both in sociology, were undertaken at Carleton University in Ottawa.
My eclectic academic background also saw me study journalism at Carleton University after completing a commerce degree from Queen’s University. Outside my working life, I’m an avid traveller, be it Cape Town or Kampala, Marseille or Managua, Helsinki or Hanoi. There’s nothing quite like feeling out-of-place.
Field/Discipline:Journalism
Sociology
Expertise: Journalism Studies, Journalism and Popular Culture, Spaces of News, News Discourse, News Audiences, Sociology of Emotions
